The Mooseman gameplay showcases the hunt for a moose and the rise of Mang-Onth. Return to the caves with the Fire of Shondi. Explore the world of Mang-Onth. Dodge deadly serpents.
Up from the cave for some fresh air, the journey of the Mooseman takes me outside to the forest for a hunt in the snow. Equipped with a bow and arrow, I hunt an elusive moose in the middle world. But beware, the moose is not alone in the woods. Giant wolves also stalk and hunt their prey. Idols unlock more myths surrounding the god Yen and the stories of how he taught his sons to hunt. As time passes, the winds kick up the snow like a storm. But that won’t stop me to catching my trophy moose.
From cold to hot, I’m teleported to the dry and windy desert where I hike alone under the hot sun rays. With my bow and arrow, perhaps I can destroy the sun?
Perhaps leaving the caves was too good to be true. I return once again to the dark depths but this time, with a new power. From the sun I gathered the ability to use the Fire of Shondi. This power provides a protective shield around me as I cross the paths of deadly serpents. But the Fire of Shondi is only temporary and requires me to re-light it upon each hit to the shield.
Even below the surface, the cave provides an amazing view of the night sky, twinkling stars, and constellations. But the serpents increase in numbers, making the journey through the roots all the more dangerous.
A giant moose warns me of a giant ancient spider named Cheran whose path I’m likely to cross very soon.
From The Mooselog (developer diary):
The word “mammoth” comes actually from Russian word “мамонт”, and that Russian word comes from Mansi words “Mang Onth”, what means “Earth Horn”. This mythical beast is so heavy that he is submerged into the earth and with his huge mass he dug the river beds, and where he laid the lakes appeared, and where he pastured the seas were born.
